Adult Autism & ADHD Assessment · Psychological Therapy ·
Workers Compensation

I welcome referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists and other health professionals, as well as workers’ compensation insurers, rehabilitation providers and case managers.

I provide online psychological assessment and therapy for adults, with focused clinical experience in Autism, ADHD, complex presentations, co-occurring conditions and differential assessment. I also provide psychological treatment under workers’ compensation schemes in all states (NSW pending).

My approach draws on current evidence, clinical experience and lived experience of neurodivergence. I take an individualised approach that recognises both strengths and genuine areas of difficulty or support need, while considering the broader developmental, psychological, physical and social factors that may be contributing to a person’s presentation.

When You Might Consider Referring

A referral may be helpful for an adult who:

  • is questioning whether they may be Autistic, have ADHD, or experience both

  • has an existing Autism or ADHD diagnosis where another neurodevelopmental condition may also warrant exploration

  • presents with a complex or co-occurring clinical picture where diagnostic clarification would be helpful

  • has longstanding difficulties that have not been fully explained by previous diagnoses or treatment

  • presents with anxiety, low mood, burnout, emotional dysregulation, overwhelm or other difficulties where an underlying neurodevelopmental profile may be relevant

  • has developed significant masking or compensatory strategies, including adults whose academic, professional or interpersonal functioning may have obscured underlying difficulties

  • does not readily fit traditional stereotypes of Autism or ADHD, including women and adults identified later in life

  • is seeking greater understanding or support following a recent diagnosis or late identification

  • already has an Autism and/or ADHD diagnosis and is seeking psychological therapy with a clinician experienced in adult neurodivergence.

Adult Autism & ADHD Assessment

I provide comprehensive diagnostic assessment for Autism, ADHD and combined presentations in adults.

I have a particular interest in complex presentations, co-occurring conditions and differential assessment. I do not consider diagnostic criteria in isolation; assessment aims to understand the whole clinical picture and the different factors that may be contributing to a person's presentation.

Assessment includes developmental history, current functioning, psychological wellbeing, executive functioning, masking and compensatory strategies, and other relevant clinical factors.

Diagnostic Clarification

Referral does not require certainty that Autism or ADHD is present.

I welcome referrals where the clinical question itself is unclear — for example, where a patient has a longstanding pattern of difficulties that has not been adequately explained, where previous diagnoses do not appear to account for the whole presentation, or where Autism, ADHD and other conditions may need to be considered together.

The purpose of assessment is not simply to determine whether diagnostic criteria can be met, but to develop a useful and clinically coherent understanding of the individual.

Differential Assessment & Medical Considerations

My assessment considers both co-occurring and alternative explanations for the difficulties a person is experiencing. Where clinically indicated, I encourage GP involvement so that relevant medical and physiological factors that may mimic, exacerbate or coexist with neurodevelopmental symptoms can be appropriately considered.

These may include sleep-disordered breathing/obstructive sleep apnoea, thyroid dysfunction, anaemia or iron deficiency, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, medication or substance effects, and other conditions affecting sleep, cognition, energy, mood or executive functioning.

A GP referral is not required for private diagnostic assessment; however, GP involvement is recommended and preferred as part of a comprehensive assessment and can provide valuable medical and clinical context.

Where indicated, I may recommend further medical or allied-health investigation rather than attempting to account for all difficulties within a neurodevelopmental diagnosis.

Reports & Recommendations

Following assessment, I provide a comprehensive report that goes beyond a diagnostic conclusion. It includes an integrated formulation of the person’s presentation, together with practical recommendations relevant to their circumstances and ongoing care.

With the client’s consent, I can communicate with referring and treating professionals to support continuity of care and implementation of recommendations.

Working Alongside Existing Treating Clinicians

An assessment referral does not require a transfer of care.

I welcome assessment-only referrals from psychologists, psychiatrists and other treating clinicians. Where appropriate and with the client’s consent, I can conduct a diagnostic assessment and provide findings and recommendations, while the client continues treatment with their existing clinician.

I also welcome collaborative care where communication between treating professionals may assist diagnostic clarification, treatment planning or continuity of care.

Psychological Therapy

I provide individual psychological therapy for adults, including those who are Autistic, have ADHD, experience both, are exploring possible neurodivergence, or are adjusting to a diagnosis later in life.

Therapy is neurodivergence-informed, evidence-informed and individually tailored rather than based on assumptions about how an Autistic or ADHD person “should” present.

Areas of support may include:

  • anxiety, depression and emotional distress

  • autistic or neurodivergent burnout

  • emotional regulation and overwhelm

  • identity and adjustment following diagnosis

  • masking and the impact of long-term compensation

  • executive-functioning difficulties

  • relationships and communication

  • self-understanding and self-advocacy

  • workplace difficulties and occupational stress

  • life transitions and changing support needs.

My aim is to understand the person in context rather than treating neurodivergence, psychological symptoms and life circumstances as unrelated problems.

Workers’ Compensation Psychology

I accept referrals for online psychological treatment under workers’ compensation schemes in all states (NSW pending).

Referrals are welcome from insurers, rehabilitation providers, case managers, GPs and other treating professionals.

I work with adults experiencing psychological difficulties associated with workplace injury, occupational stress and disruption to functioning and work participation.

My experience in adult neurodivergence may also be particularly relevant where Autism or ADHD interacts with the worker’s psychological injury, communication, executive functioning, sensory or interpersonal demands, workplace adjustment or return-to-work needs.

Treatment and communication with relevant parties are provided within the requirements of the applicable workers’ compensation scheme.
